9/18/11
Dear Dance Conservatory Families:
As some of you know, I have been looking for a successor to take over the studio for some time now. Given these difficult economic times, I have been unable to find someone who is both willing and able to do so.
With Daniel’s decision to not take on the studio, it was my intention to close the studio after this years Nutcracker - if I had been unable to find another successor by that time. However, I received an offer from the landlord which would release me from the lease agreement early. Although the timing is not the best, it is an offer I must accept. It is however conditioned on a quick exit from the building.
Without someone to take on the mantel of owner/director, the decline in enrollment, and family matters. I have decided to accept the landlords generous offer.
It is with mixed emotions I must therefore announce that after some 20 years in this business, I will be retiring and am closing The Dance Conservatory effective immediately. I am extremely sorry for the disappointment you and your children will face with this sudden and unhappy news. This was an extremely difficult decision.
I know that this may leave you all with questions. Families who have pre-paid for the session will, of course, receive a pro-rated refund. I would ask that you please be patient in this regard as I have much to do to vacate the building. I expect refunds will be issued the beginning of October. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
Please join us for a farewell celebration on Wednesday 9/21 from 4:30pm – 6:00pm. Students can make sure they have all of their things. Our staff will be available for guidance on new studio placement, to help answer questions and so we can say farewell. We will also have costumes, sets & props for sale if you, or anyone you know is interested.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. It has been my great pleasure to see so many students develop and grow over the many years. The willingness of parents to volunteer so much of their time during our shows was always uplifing. I will miss you all, students and parents alike. I wish you all the very best.
Sincerely,
Tracy Van Baalen
